Job summary

Columbus Technologies is seeking an on-call, part-time Electrical/Electronic Technician in Greenbelt, MD. You will assemble experimental circuitry or prototypes and set up test equipment to perform functional and environmental tests.

You should have a technician school background and up to 1 year of aerospace experience, with strong calibration and troubleshooting skills and the ability to coordinate with the facility team.

Qualifications

• Education: technician school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience: up to 1 year in aerospace flight/ground support equipment.
• Repair and maintenance of semiconductor equipment including calibration.
• Designing and building test set ups for detector testing.
• Operation and maintenance of test equipment such as temperature controllers and spectrum analyzers.
• Troubleshoot mechanical or software issues in nonfunctioning equipment.
• Coordinate with facility group during outages.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $35-40/hr. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Electrical/Electronic Technician shall assemble experimental circuitry (breadboard) or complete prototype models using engineering instruction, technical manuals, and knowledge of electrical/electronic systems and components and their functions. The Electrical/Electronic Technician shall set up standard test apparatus or conceive test equipment and circuitry, and conduct functional, operational, environmental and life test to evaluate the performance and reliability of prototype or production models.

The Electrical/Electronic Technician shall analyze and interpret test data. The Electrical/Electronic Technician shall adjust, calibrate, align, and modify circuitry and components and record unit performance.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Education: The Electrical/Electronic Technician shall be a technician school graduate, or have equivalent education in a different field and experience.
• Experience: The Electrical/Electronic Technician I shall have up to 1 years of experience respectively in aerospace flight/ground support equipment assembly and evaluation.
• Repair and maintenance of semiconductor specific equipment that includes troubleshooting, calibration and interfacing with facility team.
• Designing and building of test set ups for detector testing.
• Operation and routine maintenance of test equipment which includes temperature controller, temperature monitors, integrating sphere, spectrum analyzer, function generators, monochromator, black body source, controllers, vacuum pump, cryo-cooler and other lab equipment.
• Perform mechanical or software troubleshooting to determine problems in nonfunctioning equipment.
• Manage facility/equipment outages, coordinate with affected users and on-site facility group.

DESIRED SKILLS

• Familiarity with labs and sensitive equipment's.

• Familiarity with lab inventor and ordering lab consumables.
