Job summary

Garner & Associates Engineering is seeking an Electrical Drafter/Designer to support electrical engineers in designing power distribution, lighting, and related systems for our Alabama offices. You will produce detailed AutoCAD/REVIT drawings and collaborate with the team on sketches and revisions.

The role requires proven drafting experience, strong math and communication skills, and the ability to travel to local job sites as needed. A BS in Engineering or a tech college degree is required.

Garner & Associates Engineering has an opening for Electrical Drafter/Designer with our Montgomery and/or Tuscaloosa, Alabama offices. Drafter responsibilities include gathering drawings and specifications, calculating material and equipment requirements, drawing production with AutoCAD and REVIT software.

Minimum Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge/experience with AutoCAD and REVIT software.
• Proven work experience as a Drafter, or similar role.
• Good math skills.
• Ability to follow instructions, work efficiently in an organized manner, and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills.
• BS in Engineering or degree from a technical college

Essential Functions And Responsibilities Include

• Assist electrical engineer on designing power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, and telecommunication systems including safety and security, audio/visual, intercom, PA, etc.
• Create detailed designs with AutoCAD and REVIT software.
• Prepare and review rough sketches and review them along with the engineering team.
• Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality.
• Ensure final designs comply with regulations, codes, and quality standards.
• Local job site travel as needed per project.
