Wade Trim is seeking an Electric Distribution Designer to join the ICE team in Michigan to design and coordinate low-voltage electric distribution projects. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of direct electrical distribution design experience in a utility setting and a strong ability to communicate with clients and the public.

The role emphasizes accuracy, collaboration, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of electrical distribution design experience in a utility setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; high school diploma required.
• Proficient in Bentley Open Utilities, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
• Strong writing, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical distribution systems, ensuring compliance with standards and client specs.
• Collaborate with clients, PMs, and team members to gather requirements and provide updates.
• Communicate with the public about upcoming project work to minimize disruption.
• Complete asset assessment of overhead and underground electrical equipment.
• Produce detailed design documentation, drawings, and specifications with accuracy.
• Perform engineering calculations (voltage drop, flicker, etc.).
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for proposed projects.
• Prepare and facilitate requests for forestry, permitting, and Right-of-Way acquisition.
• Perform analysis of utility poles using PoleForeman software.
• Prepare joint pole authorizations and provide QA/QC of designs.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation for easy retrieval.
• Foster a positive, collaborative team environment and ongoing professional development.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices; maintain safe working environment.
