Job summary

Addison Group is seeking an Electrical Distribution Designer to join our Texas-based operations. You will design overhead and underground distribution facilities, mentor staff, and coordinate with owners, engineering firms, and construction teams to ensure safe, compliant installations.

The role requires an Associate’s degree (or 3 years of equivalent Electric Power Technology experience), knowledge of distribution system operation/maintenance, and familiarity with joint construction and utility

Responsibilities

• Represent yourself professionally with property owners, engineering firms, and construction resources.
• Stay current with technologies, work planning and design methodologies in Electric Distribution Design.
• Mentor and train other staff to transfer design knowledge.
• Proficiently design both overhead and underground distribution facilities.
• Perform distribution line design calculations for framing, sag, and construction practices.

Job description

Role: Electrical Distribution Designer

Salary: $100,000 - $140,000 / year

Location: Houston, San Antonio, Fort Worth, Texas

Required Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Ability to represent self professionally while meeting with property owners, other engineering firms and construction resources.
• Ability to stay abreast with the changing technologies, work planning, and design methodologies associated with Electric Distribution Design.
• Ability to mentor and/or train others staff members to transfer personal design knowledge to others.
• Proficient with the design of both overhead and underground electric distribution facilities.
• Ability to recognize electric distribution framing and components 4kV through 35kV, to initiate designs for construction or reconstruction of both overhead and underground distribution facilities.
• Ability to perform distribution line design calculations for structure loading, guying, geometric angle calculations, conductor sag interpretation, unitized framing design, construction practices and construction safety guidelines using industry tools and methods.

Desired Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Prefer an Associate’s degree or certificate in Electric Power Technology and/or three (3) years’ prior experience with electric distribution design and estimation.
• Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
• Experience in joint construction and electric utility best practices.
