Job summary

Talen Energy seeks an Electrical Discipline Scheduler to develop, coordinate, optimize, and maintain detailed work schedules for maintenance activities at our nuclear facility. This role supports outages, online maintenance, and capital projects, ensuring alignment with safety and regulatory requirements.

You will collaborate with Work Management, Planning, Operations, Engineering, Radiation Protection, Supply Chain, and Maintenance to optimize schedules while meeting station goals and industry

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of nuclear power plant experience in operations, maintenance, scheduling, or program management.
  • Proficiency with computerized work management and scheduling tools.
  • Eligible to obtain/maintain unescorted access and meet fitness-for-duty requirements; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, optimize, and maintain detailed work schedules for maintenance activities.

  • Attend and support planning meetings; adjust schedules based on resource availability and constraints.

Job description

The Electrical Discipline Scheduler is responsible for developing, coordinating, optimizing, and maintaining detailed work schedules for maintenance activities in support of nuclear power plant operations, outages, online maintenance, and capital projects. This position works closely with Work Management, Planning, Operations, Engineering, Radiation Protection, Supply Chain, and Maintenance departments to ensure Maintenance work is scheduled safely, efficiently, and in compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements, station goals, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Cycle Managers in the preparation, review and maintenance of the 2-year cycle schedule for both units
  • Support Modification preparation and scheduling meetings as assigned
  • Support the T-26 PM Review Meetings
  • T-26 through T-16 Review the Initial Target Week Scope. Evaluate and coordinate the scope, support requirements, preliminary logic ties and implementation strategy of all System/FEG work activities identified for the target week
  • Review and validate initial resource estimates and schedule durations for all work activities identified for the target week
  • Interface with system engineers to identify and evaluate opportunities to bundle and optimize work scope
  • Identify and assign activity calendars to scheduled activities per Station Procedures
  • Identify work activities that represent ALARA challenges
  • Provide initial resource curves for available personnel to support target week work
  • Attend T-Week meetings. Provide input and support. Obtain feedback on process improvements for future target week preparation
  • T-15 through T-10 Review, adjust, refine, and optimize the target week scope and schedule. Coordinate the scope, preliminary logic ties and implementation strategy of all System/FEG work activities identified for the target week. Help resolve restraints as soon as possible to support continued work week preparation to meet stability, adherence, and survival rate performance goals.
  • Help identify contingencies to their schedule work.
  • Review and validate final resource curves for available personnel to support target week work.
  • Attend T-Week meetings. Provide input and support. Obtain feedback on process improvements for future target week preparation.
Discipline Schedulers - Other Duties
  • Develop and implement System Outage Windows as assigned including coordination meetings.
  • Perform the duties and responsibilities of an Evolution Coordinator as assigned. Ensuring a constructive and healthy relationship with customers such as maintenance production, engineering, and other affected work groups.
  • Perform the approvals to revisions of routine task activities including interface with Station Engineering to support PM Scope and Frequency changes.
  • Own the review and scheduling of their Disciplines Work Order Backlog
  • Outage Support - Perform Outage duties as assigned.
  • Emergency Plan Support Perform NERO duties and responsibilities as qualified and assigned.
  • Training & Qualifications: Maintain and improve qualifications and proficiency for the duties and responsibilities associated with the requirements of Discipline Scheduler.
  • Active use of the Corrective Action and Self-Assessment processes including quality resolution of assigned action items as well as support of RCA teams and Self Assessments such as After-Action Reviews (AAR).
  • Other duties assigned to support the Station.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years of nuclear power plant experience in operations, maintenance, engineering, work management, scheduling, or program management.
  • Proficiency with computerized work management and scheduling tools (or demonstrated ability to learn them quickly).
  • Eligible to obtain/maintain unescorted access and meet fitness-for-duty requirements; valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Competent understanding of existing Company Policies and Station Procedures.
  • Electrical Maintenance background (e.g., Maintenance Electrician, Supervisor) or equivalent experience demonstrating strong judgment and plant risk awareness.
  • Established communication skills. - Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Familiar with the following: Nuclear Information Management System (NIMS)
  • Oracle or other similar Work Order Reporting tool
  • Primavera Scheduling Software
