Job summary

New Flyer is building a brand-new Engineering Services team focused on diagnostics to improve troubleshooting across our transit and coach vehicles. You will report to the Engineering Design Manager – Electrical Diagnostic Enhancement and collaborate with the Electrical Engineering & Smart Bus Technology groups.

In this role you will drive design releases, programming and diagnostic development, and ensure tasks move from design to production on time.

Qualifications

University Degree or Technical Diploma in electrical engineering or related field.
1–10 years of experience in electrical engineering or related field.
Strong understanding of control system algorithms and multiplexing system logic.
Functional diagram / structured text experience preferred.
Experience with CAN/J1939 Ethernet communication protocols preferred.
Strong teamwork, problem solving and communication skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
Travel less than 15% to Canada/within the US.

Responsibilities

Strategize, evaluate, develop, and execute diagnostic methods to improve tools for understanding vehicle electrical issues.
Monitor prevalence of electrical issues across fleets and devise mitigation solutions.
Assess new systems for diagnostic capability and address gaps.
Prepare data and create reports on project status related to diagnostics.
Communicate and coordinate with other groups and departments.
Provide engineering support to Production, QA, and Customer Service.
Interact with vendors and customers on design issues and document approvals.
Complete diagnostic testing of components and systems.
Assist Designer / Draft person as required.
