Job summary

Valmet is seeking an Electrical Designer, Tissue Converting, to join our North America team in Green Bay, Wisconsin. You will design and draft electrical systems for new equipment and modifications, adapt concepts from Valmet Italy, and ensure solutions meet customer requirements while upholding Valmet standards.

The role focuses on detailed execution (schematics, layouts, BOMs) and supports controls development.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology, Electrical Design, or related field (or equivalent hands‑on industry experience)
  • Strong ability to create electrical schematics and panel designs BOMs (Experience with AutoCAD, E3 or Eplan preferred)
  • Working knowledge of electrical control systems and components Pneumatic systems
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Effective communication skills with cross‑functional teams (service, sales, customers)
  • Preferred, not required Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred
  • Industry experience in tissue converting, packaging, or similar equipment is preferred PLC systems (Rockwell, Siemens) HMI systems

Responsibilities

  • Develop job‑specific electrical schematics, layouts, and Bills of Material (BOMs) for new equipment and modifications
  • Customize electrical designs to meet customer‑specific requirements while maintaining standardization
  • Support the sales team by evaluating feasibility of design changes and providing technical input
  • Support purchasing with evaluation of new suppliers, components, and electrical standards
  • Support customer service with replacement parts, obsolescence solutions, and documentation
  • Provide technical support to field technicians, including troubleshooting electrical and basic controls‑related issues
  • Assist in resolving electrical non‑conformities identified at suppliers or within internal processes
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of electrical upgrades for obsolete platforms
  • Participate in and support design reviews with internal teams and customers
  • Ensure timely completion of design activities to meet cost targets and delivery schedules
  • Support development and updates of PLC and HMI programs, including troubleshooting assistance
  • Travel as needed to customer sites to support installation, commissioning support, and troubleshooting (up to 20%)

Responsibilities

The Electrical Designer is responsible for the electrical design and drafting of Valmet new equipment and TIPS/MODS (converting, packaging, fold), including review and adaptation of electrical concepts from Valmet Italy. This role focuses on detailed design execution (schematics, layouts, BOMs) and supports controls development activities to ensure solutions meet customer‑specific requirements while maintaining Valmet standards.
