Job summary

NEI Electric Power Engineering is seeking a mid-level Electrical Designer to join our Solar Engineering group in Colorado. You will design PV electrical power systems, prepare detailed drawings, and support bidding with conceptual layouts.

You’ll ensure QA/QC, help develop CAD standards, and maintain strong client relationships while working in a hybrid office/field environment. Ideal candidates have 2-5+ years of engineering design experience, proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office, and excellent

  • Ability to read technical literature and engineering plans with strong verbal and written communication.
  • Proven ability to work with internal staff and external clients with two-way communication.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed design and prepare drawings for PV electrical power systems including one-line diagrams and wiring diagrams.
  • Check work of designers and drafters, contributing to QA/QC and accuracy.
  • Contribute to CAD standards and simplify complex tasks for efficiency.
  • Maintain client relationships and adhere to safety and professional guidelines.

About the PositionAs a mid-level Electrical Designer in the Solar Engineering group, you will be responsible for working with multi-disciplinary teams to primarily perform utility scale solar engineering design in a manner that provides the client with a quality deliverable that is on time and within budget.Essential ResponsibilitiesPerforms detailed design and prepare drawings for all aspects of PV electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, selection of equipment, wiring diagrams, trench section drawings, inverter layout drawings, and BESS equipment layout and detail drawingsProvides conceptual and high-level designs during bidding stage of projects with very little information or directionPrepare drawings for civil and structural aspects of PV design as requiredPrepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including basis of designs, bill of materials, and studies as requiredChecks the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as requiredContributes to CAD standard development in a manner that is cognizant of both engineering and design departmentsConsistently able to reduce complexity of projects/tasks within their discipline to get more done with less workProvides a major role in the QA/QC process and takes initiative and ownership on all project and task qualityMaintains outstanding company-client relationshipsMaintains high ethical and professional standards within the overall organizationEngaged in lifelong learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issuesAttend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelinesOther responsibilities as assignedMust HaveEducation: Degree in engineering or related fieldExperience: 2-5+ years of engineering design or other relevant experienceProficiency with AutoCAD requiredProficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and additional computer softwarePossesses effective written and oral communications skillsAssists with client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetingsMust possess strong technical verbal and technical writing skills and be able to read technical literature and engineering plansMust demonstrate two-way communication to effectively work with internal staff and external clientsA strong written and verbal command of the English languageApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basisWorking ConditionsWork Environment:Work is performed in an office setting and some field work may be requiredTravel:Minimal: 0 – 10%Physical Activities:Must be able to lift 25lbs.About NEI Electric Power EngineeringServing Others.
