Job summary

LJA Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Designer to develop power and controls packages for industrial facilities in a fast‑paced environment. You will work with drafters, designers, and engineers to produce compliant electrical designs using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and MicroStation.

Expect collaboration with project managers, adherence to NFPA 70 and API RP 500, and ongoing learning in a strong employee‑owned culture. This role emphasizes quality, reliability and hands‑on experience.

Qualifications

• Formal AutoCAD training with certification or degree.
• Minimum 5 years of professional electrical design experience using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and MicroStation.
• Experience developing electrical and controls packages for industrial facilities.
• Full-time drafting experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and MicroStation.
• Experience coordinating with drafters, designers and engineers across disciplines.
• Strong drafting skills with attention to detail.
• Highly motivated, proactive and excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical design packages including plans, elevations, details, diagrams and schedules.
• Apply NFPA 70 (NEC) and API RP 500 to ensure safety and compliance.
• Coordinate power and controls design with engineers and project managers.
• Review project documentation to support accurate design development.
• Utilize drafting tools with external references and dynamic blocks.
• Manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Adhere to drafting standards for high quality work.
