Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller Companies Inc. through BW Papersystems is seeking an Electrical Designer in Wisconsin to develop electrical designs for custom machinery and systems.

You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement to ensure designs meet customer specs and industry standards. The role involves preparing layouts, BOMs, and drawings using CAD tools, performing basic electrical calculations, and supporting field installations and trials.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical layouts.
• Working knowledge of NEC and UL electrical codes and standards.
• Working knowledge of machine shop practices and electrical assembly methods.
• Familiarity with drafting standards and techniques.
• Strong analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs for new machines, sections, and systems based on schematics and data.
• Modify existing designs to meet customer requirements or modernization goals.
• Prepare layouts and drawings using CAD; assess manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
• Perform basic electrical calculations (fuses, starters, relays, conductors).
• Redesign control systems to accommodate changes in operating conditions.
• Prepare BOMs, specifications, and project documentation; maintain files.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement to resolve issues.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing, assembly, and trials.
• Interface with suppliers to select appropriate components.
• Participate in field service trips for installation and commissioning.
• May lead or mentor junior designers or team members.
