Job summary

Atlantic Constructors Inc. is seeking an Electrical Designer - Modular Manufacturing to join our team in the Richmond, VA area.

This role focuses on electrical, instrumentation, and controls design to support capital projects and modular building development. You will create client drawings, develop Revit families, prepare single-line diagrams, design MCCs and panel schedules, and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and construction teams to ensure safe, compliant and efficient

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent science degree.
• 5+ years' of related experience in a Design Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering role.
• 5+ years' of Electrical, Instrumentation or Controls installation experience
• Advanced knowledge of API, NEC, NFPA, IEEE standards
• Will be known across the organization for their expertise, strategic vision and enterprise perspective.
• Creates solutions to complex, non-routine problems.

Responsibilities

• Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls Design for Capital Projects.
• Create client issue drawings and detailed fabrication drawings using Revit.
• Develop electrical Revit families and custom electrical components.
• Prepare single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, interconnection schedules, and panel schedules.
• Design and coordinate MCCs, switchboards, panelboards, PDUs, CDUs, PLC systems, and fire alarm systems.
• Supporting Engineering and Construction Contractors as needed.
• Support Operations and Maintenance as a technical resource as needed.
• Apply industry codes to an industrial manufacturing setting.
• Provide instrumentation and controls design support through all project phases.

Summary / Objective:

This position performs a variety of electrical, instrumentation, and controls design work to maintain and continuously improve the performance of multiple chemical production units and related auxiliary systems. Besides a thorough technical knowledge about electric power systems, field instrumentation, local and distributed control systems, it is also valuable to have a basic knowledge of chemical and physical processes. The main objective of this position is to provide design and technical services to operations and service units to assure safe operations, regulatory compliance and to maximize the availability and efficiency of these units.The ideal candidate will support the design and development of modular buildings and data center infrastructure while working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and fabrication teams

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Responsible for Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls Design for Capital Projects.
• Create client issue drawings and detailed fabrication drawings using Revit.
• Develop electrical Revit families and custom electrical components.
• Prepare single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, interconnection schedules, and panel schedules.
• Design and coordinate MCCs, switchboards, panelboards, PDUs, CDUs, PLC systems, and fire alarm systems
• Supporting Engineering and Construction Contractors on an as needed basis.
• Supporting Operations and Maintenance as a technical resource when needed.
• Being able to understand and apply industry codes that apply to an industrial manufacturer.
• Provides instrumentation and controls design support to all phases of project design, execution, installation, commissioning and operation.
• Maintains and applies company instrumentation design criteria and specifications as well as industry recognized standards.
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses instrumentation related issues including electrical, mechanical, and computer controlled systems.
• Assists in factory acceptance testing and field inspections.
• Responsible for creating, updating and drafting design documents including but not limited to loop sheets, motor schematics, panel schedules, I/O cabinets and onelines .
• Other duties and projects as assigned.

Education / Certification / Experience Requirements

• Bachelor or Associate degree in Electrical, Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent science degree.
• 5+ year's of related experience in a Design Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering role.
• 5+ year's of Electrical, Instrumentation or Controls installation experience
• Advanced knowledge of technical standards and guidelines (API, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, etc.)
• Will be known across the organization for their expertise, strategic vision and enterprise perspective.
• Creates solutions to complex, non-routine problems.
• Provides recommendations to management within business/functional team

Work Environment:

• Works in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment
• Position may require visits to the onsite prefabrication shop, construction site or jobsite assignments

Physical Demands:

• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines

Travel:

• May require infrequent travel (typically not overnight)

Preferred:

• Prior military experience
• Experience working on large-scale commercial/industrial, MEP and/or modular construction projects
