Job summary

SHIMIZU NORTH AMERICA LLC in Atlanta, GA seeks an Electrical Designer to support office projects from pre-construction through design phases. You will develop building electrical systems, perform calculations, and coordinate with disciplines.

Responsibilities include producing plans with Revit MEP and AutoCAD, preparing load letters, BIM coordination, and translating client documents between Japanese and English as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (Electrical emphasis) and 1–3 years of electrical design experience including CAD/BIM; Masters preferred.
• Associate’s degree with 3–5 years of directly relevant experience may be considered.
• Knowledge of CAD/BIM methods and techniques (AutoCAD, Revit MEP).
• Familiarity with NEC, IBC, IECC/ASHRAE 90.1, NFPA 72 and local amendments; ability to coordinate with other disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop building electrical systems: power distribution, lighting, and equipment connections.
• Produce one-line diagrams, load calculations, panel schedules, and conduit sizing.
• Perform lighting calculations using AGi32 or DIALux and coordinate lighting control sequences.
• Coordinate utility service requirements and assist load letters.
• Prepare fire alarm layouts per NFPA 72 and AHJ requirements.
• Coordinate low-voltage/technology systems layouts with consultants.
• Produce coordination documents using Revit MEP and AutoCAD; ensure model fidelity.
