Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Electrical Designer for a fully remote role based from Duffield, VA, with occasional travel to project sites and customer locations. The designer will interpret bid letters and customer specifications to produce complete design packages, perform engineering calculations, and prepare BOMs and work orders for manufacturing and installation.

Qualifications

• Strong technical aptitude in architectural, mechanical, and electrical design disciplines.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit, using the latest software releases.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation, reporting, and engineering calculations.
• Solid understanding of algebra, geometry, and engineering-related mathematical formulas for AC service, HVAC, energy load, and structural calculations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with collaboration across design, factory, and sales teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a wide range of detailed architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings with focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Interpret bid letters, customer specifications, and drawings to develop design packages.
• Perform standard engineering calculations for design decisions and system performance.
• Develop work orders and Bills of Materials (BOMs) concurrent with drawing production.
• Provide technical support to internal teams and customers; travel as needed.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align project requirements and design standards.
