Position Overview

We are an innovative team of engineers and designers supporting projects company-wide. Our staff collaborates with Kiewit’s module fabrication and construction teams to deliver safe, cost-effective, and innovative electrical designs that meet client expectations and uphold Kiewit’s legacy of excellence. As an Electrical Designer, you will develop detailed electrical systems designs and 3D models, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical designs into overall project plans.

District Overview

Mass. Electric Construction Company, a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, is a leading electrical contractor in North America. We provide electrical construction and maintenance services for large-scale projects, including bridges, commercial and federal buildings, power and energy, renewable energy, and water infrastructure.

Location

This position is based in Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities
  • Model and coordinate electrical, low voltage, and control systems.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines for successful project design, coordination, and delivery.
  • Utilize Navisworks for clash detection and coordination.
  • Update models based on redlines and as-builts.
  • Review design drawings and submittals.
  • Develop plans and specifications, resolving unique issues.
  • Respond to contractor RFIs.
  • Review shop drawings and construction submittals.
  • Perform construction site observations and reports.
  • Prepare punch lists during construction stages.
  • Maintain project tracking metrics.
  • Identify prefab opportunities.
  • Perform QA/QC on all deliverables.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam for reviewing electrical drawings and markups.
  • Advanced knowledge of Autodesk software including Revit, Navisworks, and BIM360/ACC.
  • Ability to read electrical single line diagrams, panel schedules, and floorplans.
  • Basic understanding of fire alarm and security systems.
  • Ability to produce electrical floorplans and conduit routing plans.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70, and local codes.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of Revit experience in electrical discipline.
  • Experience preparing construction drawing packages and coordinating disciplines.
  • Ability to perform lighting photometry calculations.
  • Experience with Dynamo is a plus.
  • Journeyman Electrician license is a plus.
  • Field experience and Revit family creation/modification.
  • Experience on large industrial or transportation projects.
