Job summary

Hunt Electric in Eagan, MN is seeking an Electrical Designer 2 to coordinate and create electrical designs for commercial projects. The role partners with the Design Engineering team and stakeholders to meet schedules and budgets, requiring 5+ years of electrical design experience and proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD.

Hybrid work arrangement with onsite and remote collaboration. The ideal candidate will ensure NEC and local code compliance, mentor junior staff, and support client engagements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (non-ABET) or a 2-year electrical design degree with related experience.
• Minimum 5 years of electrical design/engineering experience using Revit, AutoCAD, or similar software.
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and Energy Code.
• Strong communication, collaboration, customer focus, problem solving, and delivering quality work.

Job Description Summary The Electrical Designer 2 will coordinate and create with teammates in the Design Engineering department to produce electrical designs for Hunt Electric’s commercial projects. The Electrical Designer 2 will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, providing technical support and adherence to quality standards to meet project schedule and budget expectations. We are seeking a candidate with 5+ years of electrical design experience. This role is based out of our Eagan, MN headquarters with a hybrid work schedule of office/remote work.

Job Description

Role & Responsibilities

• Production of Electrical Drawings and Engineering Reports
  • Assist in the design and coordination of electrical drawings within schedule, budget, and defined scope under the supervision of a Level III Engineer or Designer. May lead smaller projects under the supervision of an Engineer of Record or Design Manager.
  • Produce engineering reports, including arc flash hazard studies, overcurrent protection device coordination studies, voltage drop calculations, and short circuit analysis reports under the supervision of a Level II Engineer or Level III Engineer or Designer.
  • Collaborate with project management, estimating, and field teams throughout all project phases, from kick-off to final as-built/closeout on projects as assigned.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical support to other departments or groups.
• Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance
  • Review drawings and designs from other engineers and designers on projects as assigned to ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, project standards, and Hunt’s internal standards.
• Mentorship and Team Development
  • Coach and mentor less experienced engineers and designers, promoting adherence to industry, technical, code standards/recommendations and internal Hunt standards.
• Client Relations and Engagement
  • May serve as the engineering point of contact with clients, presenting solutions and addressing challenges effectively on projects as assigned.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering from a non-ABET Accredited university or school, 2 year degree in electrical design or similar work experience.
• Minimum of five years of significant electrical design or engineering experience using Revit, AutoCAD, or similar software.
• Have a working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and Energy Code.
• A track record of strong communication, collaboration, customer focus, problem solving, and delivering quality work.

Physical Requirements

• This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers and fax machines.
• Employees are frequently required to sit, and occasionally required to kneel, reach, stoop, crouch or crawl.
• This position requires the ability to lift files, open file cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
• This position may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.

Pay Range

$76,800.00 - $102,400.00

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
