Job summary

SMS group in Pittsburgh seeks an Electrical CAD Designer to create electrical schematics in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical for modernization and new installations of Electric Arc Furnaces, Ladle Metallurgical Furnaces, Vacuum Tank Degassers, Continuous Casters, Hot and Cold Rolling Mills, and related equipment.

You will work under moderate supervision, assist senior designers, and develop proficiency in CAD methods, producing complete PLC cabinet and control desk drawings and linking schematics

Qualifications

• Formal AutoCAD training is required.
• Basic understanding of electrical theory.

Responsibilities

• Work under moderate supervision from Technical Systems Manager.
• Assist Senior Designers with portions of large projects.
• Develop proficiency in CAD methods as they become available.
• Modify existing AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical schematics from redlined drawings.
• Create new AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical schematics from redlined drawings.
• Produce PLC Cabinet and Control Desk layout drawings from redlines.
• Link schematics to form complete PLC Cabinet or Control Desk packages.

Job description

Summary

Create Electrical Schematics in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical for automation projects for modernizations and new installations of Electric Arc Furnaces, Ladle Metallurgical Furnaces, Vacuum Tank Degassers, Continuous Casters, Hot and Cold Rolling Mills, Metallurgy and Process Line equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work under moderate to light supervision from Technical Systems Manager.
• Assist Senior Designers with small portions of large complex projects.
• Develop proficiency in the application of new CAD methods as they become available for general use.
• Modify existing AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical schematic drawings from redlined drawings and/or reference drawings provided by the Technical Systems Manager.
• Create new AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical schematic drawings from redlined drawings and/or reference drawings provided by the Technical Systems Manager.
• Produce PLC Cabinet and Control Desk interior and exterior arrangement drawings from redlined versions provided by the Technical Systems Manager.
• Link individual schematic drawings together to form a complete package for an entire PLC Cabinet or Control Desk.

Qualifications

Formal training in AutoCAD

• Basic understanding of Electrical Theory
