Job summary

L & S Electric, Inc. in Appleton, WI is seeking an Electrical CAD Designer to support engineering activities. You will create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams and layout drawings used for the manufacture and installation of equipment.

You should have an associate degree, 2–4 years of related experience, and proficiency with EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office. Knowledge of NEC and UL 508A is a plus, and travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Create detail and assembly drawings of design components and circuitry using CAD software and standard drafting techniques.
  • Select and design parts to meet functional, cost and delivery requirements, and create lists of parts used for procurement, manufacturing and installation of equipment.
  • Consult with engineers to discuss and interpret design concepts and determine requirements of detailed working drawings.
  • Understand manufacturing and installation processes and what is required on detail and assembly drawings to accomplish them.
  • Read and understand schematics and drawings of mechanical systems.
  • Maintain parts database and drawing libraries.
  • Review work performed by peers for correctness.
  • Perform equipment sizing and design calculations.

Job Summary

Requirements
  • Associate’s degree (two‑year college or technical school).
  • 2 – 4 years of related experience.
  • Computer skills including EPLAN, Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical, and Microsoft Office.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of NEC & UL 508A requirements.

  • Fluent in English language.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekdays, and weekends to meet customer service requirements.
Working Conditions
  • Sitting at desk for extended periods of time.
  • Normally in an office environment but will be exposed to shop and site environment as job requires.
  • Aerial work may be required.
  • Environmental conditions vary from facility to facility (e.g., heat, noise).
  • Occasional lifting of heavy objects.
  • Uneven or slippery walking surfaces.
  • Work from assigned L&S office unless prior approval given.
