Job summary

Daktronics is offering an Electrical Design Student internship in Brookings, SD. You’ll rotate through design projects and work with electrical, mechanical, and product teams to gain hands-on experience.

Students must be enrolled in 12+ credits of Electronics Engineering Technology, maintain GPA 3.0 or higher, and be fluent in English. The role offers 15–20 hrs/week during the school year and up to 40 hrs/week in summer.

Qualifications

  • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.

With your academic growth in the classroom, we seek to provide multiple experiences during your student career at Daktronics, which may mean rotating to different job responsibilities.

Our engineering and manufacturing capabilities are the best in the industry. We take pride in developing new features for existing products and new products to meet our customers’ needs. This position may join a team of electrical, mechanical, and structural engineers. Available opportunities include reliability, product development, project design, and audio design.

  • Create design solutions with AutoCAD mechanical.
  • Develop innovative solutions for customers’ requests.
  • Research, design, and document product and process improvements.
  • Support component, product, and technology development and documentation.
  • Conduct component and system testing.
  • Balance simultaneous projects while communicating progress and roadblocks.
  • Complete quality work in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

When will I work?

Applicants should be available to work approximately 15 hours per week (maximum of 20 hours per week) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.

What are the pay and perks?

The typical hiring range for this position is $19.00 to $21.00 per hour based on the location of Brookings, South Dakota. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including relevant education, experiences, location, and applicable local legislation.

Students with GPA of 3.5 and above may be eligible for a $500 Academic Excellence Reward for each spring and fall semester completed while employed. Additional conditions may apply.

Qualifications

To be considered for Electrical Design Student, we require the following:

Academic Requirements:

  • The preferred applicant will be a student registered in at least 12 credits.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program in Electronics Engineering Technology.
  • The preferred applicant will be in their sophomore or junior year of school.
  • Only strong academic performers will be considered and must maintain an acceptable GPA, with preference to 3.0 GPA or greater.
  • Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application.

Other Requirements:

  • Good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, self-motivation.
  • Problem solving and planning skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as a member of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and ability to learn Daktronics computer systems and software.
  • Regularly and reliably work scheduled hours.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
