Job summary

Bechtel's Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) unit is seeking a senior electrical design engineer to plan, develop, and review electrical design work for complex projects. You will produce drawings, prepare design estimates, and coordinate with clients, facilitating technical discussions while ensuring compliance with NEC, IEEE, and related standards.

You will lead electrical designers, review bid summaries, and support 3D model activities.

Qualifications

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience [OR] 12-14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
Knowledge & application of NEC code and NEMA/ANSI/IEEE and other industry standards.
Advanced experience using AutoCAD, Revit, SP3D and Navisworks.
Prior experience in modeling of electrical equipment, cable tray, and conduit.
Prior experience with an electronic Cable Management System, such as the SETROUTE program.
Prior experience supporting hyperscale data centres, semiconductor manufacturing, life sciences, or other high-reliability industrial facilities is preferred.
Prior experience in cable tray, raceway, lighting, and cable routing design.
Prior experience in bulk material quantity takeoffs.
Knowledge of electrical installation details and materials.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and layouts.
Ability to resolve design issues independently and collaboratively with other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

Responsibilities

Leads or administers electrical designers and drafters for CAD layouts and drawings.
Coaches and trains less experienced designers.
Develops designs for electrical systems including rooms, cable trays, conduits, and lighting.
Coordinates 3D model activities with other disciplines.
Works with designers across disciplines to meet requirements.
Prepares material requisitions and bid evaluations.
Monitors design work for compliance with electrical design standards.
Participates in constructability reviews.
Prepares drafting procedures to standardize design.
Coordinates site visits to resolve problems.
Reviews design scope changes for project management.
Ensures designs comply with codes and standards.
