Job summary

Bowman invites applications for an Electrical Design Intern to support our Baltimore-area team. The role focuses on introductory electrical design across commercial, government, and industrial projects, including creating construction documents under supervision.

Interns will learn to work with AutoCAD/REVIT, SKM, and AGI Lighting Design tools while collaborating with engineers and project managers. The program emphasizes growth, mentorship, and hands-on experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience.
  • Enrolled in an ABET-accredited degree program, preferably in an electrical engineering program of study.
  • Interest in MEP design as a future career path.
  • Introductory study or knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, or similar drafting/3D modeling software, SKM software tools, and/or AGI Lighting Design software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Design appropriate electrical systems in accordance with current code requirements and sound engineering principles.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers, project manager, and occasionally the client.
  • Conduct field observations visits to accurately document the existing field conditions.
  • Accurately produce the project construction documents to meet milestone schedules within a predetermined hourly budget under direction of a senior engineer and project manager.
  • If directed, review all project related construction administrative items (shop drawings, RFI's, change order proposals).
  • Review and learn codes applicable to the discipline.

Purpose

Introduction to all levels of electrical design for commercial, government, academic, R&D, multi-family, and industrial projects, including the development of construction documents.

Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
  • Perform work under direct supervision of an experienced professional and follow established procedures and clearly defined processes.
At the Operational and Company Level
  • Interact with multiple departments and peers within the organization and participate in intern program learning and development opportunities.
Do the Work

Salary and eligible variable compensation (if any) commensurate with experience. The anticipated pay range is $20 - $25/hour, based on experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Physical Demands and Working Environment
  • Partially indoor professional office environment which may include exposure to bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.

  • Mobility around an office environment.
