Job summary

Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd. in Rogers, AR is seeking an Electrical Design Intern to gain hands-on experience across commercial, government, academic, R&D, multi-family, and industrial projects.

Under supervision you will develop construction documents, learn codes, and use AutoCAD/REVIT and other tools, while collaborating with engineers and project managers.

This internship offers exposure to a structured intern program, competitive hourly pay, and a benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in ABET-accredited degree program, preferably electrical engineering.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required.
  • Introductory knowledge of CAD/3D drafting tools (AutoCAD/REVIT) and design software (SKM/AGI).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems under supervision and approved procedures.
  • Communicate with engineers, project manager, and clients as needed.
  • Conduct field observations to document existing conditions.
  • Produce construction documents meeting milestones within an hourly budget.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders when directed.
  • Learn and apply applicable codes for the discipline.

Purpose

Introduction to all levels of electrical design for commercial, government, academic, R&D, multi-family, and industrial projects, including the development of construction documents.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction

  • Perform work under direct supervision of an experienced professional and follow established procedures and clearly defined processes.

At the Operational and Company Level

  • Interact with multiple departments and peers within the organization and participate in intern program learning and development opportunities.

Do the Work

  • Design appropriate electrical systems in accordance with current code requirements and sound engineering principles.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers, project manager, and occasionally the client.
  • Conduct field observations visits to accurately document the existing field conditions.
  • Accurately produce the project construction documents to meet milestone schedules within a predetermined hourly budget under direction of a senior engineer and project manager.
  • If directed, review all project related construction administrative items (shop drawings, RFI's, change order proposals).
  • Review and learn codes applicable to the discipline.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience required.
  • Enrolled in an ABET-accredited degree program, preferably in an electrical engineering program of study.
  • Interest in MEP design as a future career path.
  • Introductory study or knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, or similar drafting/3D modeling software, SKM software tools, and/or AGI Lighting Design software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Physical Demands and Working Environment
  • Partially indoor professional office environment which may include exposure to bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
  • Partially outdoor work environment which may include exposure to adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
  • Mobility around an office environment.
  • Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Primarily local travel during the business day.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
