Job summary

KLA is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join the Central Engineering team in Ann Arbor, MI. You will design electrical subsystems for power modules and racks, drive the full design lifecycle, and work with cross-functional teams to bring next-generation measurement tools to production.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of relevant experience, PLC programming skills, CAN bus proficiency, and strong analytical abilities. Travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years' relevant experience.
  • PLC programming with Siemens or Allen-Bradley.
  • Knowledge of CAN bus and fieldbus protocols.
  • Thermal/cooling modeling and control knowledge.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python or LabVIEW.
  • Solid understanding of OrCAD and AutoCAD; CREO is a plus.
  • Strong problem analysis and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% (domestic/international).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Own the complete electrical design process from requirements to analysis.
  • Perform thermal/cooling analysis and control for subsystems.
  • PLC programming and integration into systems.
  • Conceptual and detailed design using OrCAD/AutoCAD; prepare drawings and reviews.
  • Procure prototype parts, integrate systems, test prototypes, and hand off to manufacturing.

Group/Division With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. These CoE include Handling & Automation, Precision Motion Control, Sensors & Image Acquisition, Platform Design, and Packaging Engineering, among others. Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Central Engineering team in Ann Arbor. The engineer will work in a team of electrical and mechanical design engineers responsible for power modules and racks modules across different divisions within the corporation. The engineer drives the designing, detailing, and testing new electrical sub-system for the next generation of KLA tools!

You will design electrical parts, modules and subsystems that are part of an entire measurement system. Responsibilities include:

  • Own the complete design process from requirements specification, feasibility studies, cost and scheduling, to conducting various analysis (such as circuit, timing, thermal/cooling, electrical loads),

  • Thermal/cooling analysis and control.

  • PLC programming,

  • Conceptual and detailed design using design tools (OrCAD, AutoCAD), detailed drawings, design review presentations,

  • Procurement of prototype parts, system integration, prototype testing, and handoff to manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years' relevant experience

  • PLC Programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley)

  • Communication fieldbus protocols (e.g. CAN bus)

  • Knowledge of controls (Thermal/Cooling modeling, Control and Safety circuits, PID Tuning)

  • MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW

  • Solid understanding of OrCAD, AutoCAD (CREO is a plus!)

  • Strong problem analysis and solving capability

  • Ability to diagnose problems and hands-on troubleshooting experience for complex electrical subsystems

  • Enjoy working on groundbreaking technologies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to travel up to 20% (domestic and international)
