Key Responsibilities

Electrical Design

Develop single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, protection one-lines, and load flow / short-circuit / arc-flash studies for BESS + PV + genset microgrids from 500 kW to 200 MW

Size and specify medium-voltage (up to 35 kV) and low-voltage equipment: transformers, switchgear, breakers, PCS, BESS enclosures, PV inverters, and auxiliary loads

Perform grounding, cable sizing, conduit fill, voltage-drop, and harmonic (IEEE 519) analyses; issue stamped calculation packages where required

Author equipment specifications, technical bid evaluations, and RFQ packages for utility-grade balance-of-plant

Protection & Control Interface

Develop protection schemes (50/51, 27/59, 81/ROCOF, 25, 32, 87) and coordinate settings with IEDs; validate anti-islanding and ride-through per IEEE 1547-2018 / UL 1741-SB / IEEE 2800 as applicable

Partner with the controls team on IEC 61850 GOOSE / MMS mapping, SCADA point lists, RTAC I/O schedules, and PCC metering

Support commissioning of grid-forming and grid-following modes, black-start sequencing, seamless islanding, and PCC resynchronization

Project Execution

Serve as the electrical engineer of record across RFQ, award, detailed design, procurement, factory acceptance test (FAT), site acceptance test (SAT), and commissioning phases

Coordinate with utility interconnection engineers through application, study, and witness-testing milestones

Own the AHJ / township submittal package: NEC, NFPA 855 (BESS), NFPA 70E, IBC / IFC compliance, and stamped drawings via licensed PE where required

Track electrical scope on cost, schedule, and quality; drive resolution of RFIs, change orders, and site punch lists
