Job summary

BSI Engineering in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of experience to design power distribution systems across multiple industries. You will lead electrical design scopes, ensure Code compliance, and coordinate with a full-service team to deliver integrated designs for facilities and retrofits.

The role emphasizes low- and medium-voltage distribution, MCC design, and coordination studies, with a hybrid work schedule and opportunities for mentorship and ongoing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, or related discipline, required.
• 5+ years of electrical design experience.
• Exposure to EasyPower and/or SKM software.
• Familiar with AutoCAD and Revit software.
• Experience with load studies required.
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code.
• Industrial power distribution experience required.
• Ability to specify power distribution equipment.
• Familiarity with lighting design and lighting controls.
• Familiarity with grounding system design.

Responsibilities

• Execute electrical engineering design scope for single and multi-discipline projects while ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards. Lead role as assigned.
• Ensure quality and technical accuracy of project deliverables including calculations and design effort.
• Meet discipline’s engineering schedule and budget objectives on assigned projects.
• Design low voltage (600 and below) industrial power distribution systems: specify equipment, size overcurrent protection, size conductors, conduit, and cable tray.
• Assist in design of medium voltage (MV) power distribution systems, including equipment selection and specification.
• Assist in short circuit/arc flash/coordination and load studies.
• Design MCCs and MCC elevations; specify and modify designs.
• Design cable tray and conduit systems; specify low voltage distribution equipment.
• Participate in construction support, startup and commissioning efforts.
• Interface with clients on a regular basis.
