Job summary

Y-12 National Security Complex seeks an Electrical Engineer at Associate level to design instrumentation and controls for plant systems. You will develop detailed design packages, perform field support, and prepare calculations, diagrams, and specs within a multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes NIAL compliance, safety, and collaboration with system engineers. ABET-accredited education and DOE clearance readiness are required; PE is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Electrical or Chemical Engineering, or advanced degree in engineering/science.
• GPA requirements: 3.0/4.0 for B.S., 3.3/4.0 for M.S., 3.5/4.0 for Ph.D.; after four years, experience weighs more than GPA.
• DOE O 426.2A requirements apply; eligibility for security clearance is noted.
• Professional Engineer license is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed design packages and provide field technical support for plant systems.
• Prepare calculations, conduit/cables schedules, drawings and equipment specifications.
• Contribute to design criteria, P&IDs and control narratives.
• Lead or participate in multi-discipline project teams and provide input to system engineers.
• Perform field walkdowns to generate design documents and support craft personnel.
