Job summary

FAE Consulting is seeking an Electrical Designer Engineer to design and draft electrical systems for residential and commercial projects, including new buildings and renovations. You will perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and contribute to RFI/RFP, site investigations, CAD production, and contract documents under the Project Manager.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, 3–5 years in architectural/construction engineering, proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT, and NEC

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years’ experience in Architectural/ Construction Engineering.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and reports.
• Solid knowledge of the National Electrical Code and related building and energy codes.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at various design/construction stages.
• Meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality design.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or REVIT/BIM.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• LEED Accreditation is a plus.
• PE eligibility is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for design tasks and quality of final construction documents from concept/Development drawings.
• Participate in client meetings and maintain positive client relationships.
• Prepare conceptual designs based on client requirements.
• Prioritize and schedule assignments with Project Manager to complete projects on time.
• Interface with other disciplines within the MEP team for coordination.
• Prepare preliminary design layouts for estimating.
• Perform site inspections to ensure compliance with documents and resolve design issues.
• Responsible for Code Compliance.
• Mentor and train Electrical Engineering interns.
• Lighting and power circuitry
• Voltage calculations and conductor sizing
• Short circuit calculations
• Lighting layouts, fixture specifications, and calculations
• Low voltage lighting controls
• Photometrics
• Electrical distribution design and single line preparation
• Utility coordination
• Fire alarm system design layout & calculations
• Low voltage systems layouts including data, communications, sound, and security
• Emergency and life safety systems
• Energy code analyses
• Preparation of specifications / bid evaluations
• Building Code review and compliance
• Design drafting of construction documents using AutoCAD/Revit
