Job summary

Helix Electric is seeking a Design Engineer to support electrical design-build projects from concept to closeout in Goodyear, AZ. You will prepare code-compliant electrical designs, develop design packages, and coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, and field teams to ensure constructability and timely delivery.

The role requires strong knowledge of NEC codes, AutoCAD and Revit proficiency, and experience with design software and estimating tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience with commercial electrical design and design-build projects preferred.
• AutoCAD and Revit required or strongly preferred depending on level.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word).
• Experience with electrical estimating software such as Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, or comparable platforms preferred.
• Experience coordinating with field teams, contractors, consultants, vendors, or utilities preferred.
• EIT, PE, or electrical license is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Review contract drawings, owner criteria, and applicable codes.
• Develop electrical design packages including distribution, lighting, and single-line diagrams.
• Perform electrical calculations (load, voltage drop, short-circuit, conduit fill).
• Prepare and coordinate drawings/models using AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, etc.
• Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, and other disciplines.
• Participate in design meetings, job walks, and reviews with clients and teams.
• Track milestones, deliverables, and approvals to support on-time execution.
• Coordinate with utility providers for service requirements and transformer locations.
• Support estimating and preconstruction with design narratives, budgets, and takeoffs.
• Assist with permitting, plan revisions, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout.
