Job summary

Northwest Aerospace Technologies in Washington, DC is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer 3 to join our Engineering team. You will design and substantiating installation of electrical components and systems into retrofit aircraft applications, coordinating with customers and teammates.

RESPONSIBILITIES include developing proposals, breaking down SOWs, ensuring airworthiness compliance, and producing engineering packages from concept to production while adhering to the NAT quality system.

Qualifications

• Design, develop and substantiation of electrical installations in retrofit aircraft systems.
• Communicate with customers and team members; present technical content to diverse audiences.
• Develop proposals to install electrical components and systems within an aircraft.
• Break down Statements of Work into work packages and allocate to engineers.
• Ensure airworthiness requirements for installation of electrical systems and wiring.
• Develop engineering statements of work in early product/project stages.
• Ensure drawings and documents meet NAT quality system standards and customer requirements.
• Grow across disciplines (wire diagrams, wire kits, wire installations and system design).
• Develop engineering packages from concept to production using engineering tools and colleagues.
• Develop peer review packages for engineering drawings.
• Ensure design content conforms to procedures and certification requirements.
• Work with ODA UM's and EASA CVEs for compliance to airworthiness.

In the role of Electrical Design Engineer 3 you'll play a pivotal part on our Engineering team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Level 3 Electrical Engineer has the following scope of work:

• Support the design, development and substantiation of the installation of electrical components and systems into retrofit aircraft applications.


• Communicating with the customers and fellow team members. Presenting technical content to a wide audience and provide guidance and input to other team members as well as team members from other disciplines.


• Develop proposals to install various electrical components and systems within an aircraft.


• Break down a SOW into smaller work packages and allocate work packages to other engineers.


• Firm understanding of airworthiness requirements regarding the installation of electrical systems, components and wiring within an aircraft.


• Develop engineering statement of work in preliminary stages of product/project development.


• Ensure that NAT's drawings and documents meet the standards established by the NAT quality system, customer requirements and the applicable certification authority.


• Grow in experience by willing to take on tasks in multiple disciplines of the aerospace industry. This would include wire diagrams, wire kits, wire installations and system design.


• Develop engineering packages from beginning concept to production utilizing engineering tools and other engineering personnel.


• Develop peer review check packages for generated engineering drawings.


• Ensure the design content conforms to the company quality system procedures as documented, the customer statement of work, along with applicable certification requirements.


• Work with ODA UM's and EASA CVE's to ensure designs are compliant to airworthiness requirements.

• Substantiation Engineering Discipline.
