Job summary

Skydio is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to architect and refine electrical systems that integrate computing hardware, sensing, and power for advanced drones. You will guide detailed design of core electronics, integrate imaging electronics, and ensure manufacturability for high-volume production.

The role emphasizes collaboration across hardware teams, rapid iteration, and delivering robust, field-ready systems.

Qualifications

• Experience shipping high-volume consumer electronics in a senior or architect-level role.
• Familiarity with mobile System on Chip (SoC) design.
• Strong knowledge of high-speed digital design and related signaling.
• Experience with wireless connectivity (WiFi, cellular).
• Ability to troubleshoot EMI and RF issues.
• Experience scripting in Python and C.
• FAA Part 107 certification within 60 days is strongly encouraged for most roles.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture and select components for an embedded electro-mechanical and optical system.
• Direct detailed design of main logic, interconnect, power, RF and sensing systems around a mobile SOC.
• Integrate cameras and imaging electronics into the platform.
• Incorporate DFM and manufacturing considerations for mass production.
• Create and execute a validation plan for the system electronics.
• Address reliability, yield, and performance issues through development and production.

About the role:

We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer who will help architect, develop, and refine the electrical systems that bring together state-of-the-art computing hardware, sensing, and power systems.

How you'll make an impact:

• Define the architecture and select components for a complex embedded electro-mechanical and optical system

• Work and direct others through detailed design of main logic, interconnect, power, RF and sensing systems around a mobile SOC

• Integrate sophisticated cameras and imaging electronics

• Incorporate DFM and other manufacturing considerations on the way to high-quality mass production

• Create and carry out a validation plan for the system electronics

• Solve related reliability, yield, and performance issues through development and into production

Compensation:

At Skydio, our compensation packages for regular, full-time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of stock options, and comprehensive benefits packages. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. Relocation assistance may also be provided for eligible roles. The annual base salary range for this position is $127,500 - $240,000*.
