Job description

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys taking a product from an idea on a whiteboard to a working prototype—and ultimately into production.

We are an established engineering and manufacturing company in Lafayette, Indiana that develops custom OEM products and solutions for customers across a wide variety of industries. Because our work is project-driven, our engineers aren't limited to designing the same type of product over and over again.

One project might involve a new PCB and embedded controls. Another might require high-current DC power, sensors, communications, or integration with mechanical components.

We're looking for an engineer who enjoys that variety and is comfortable moving between designing at a computer, building and testing in the lab, troubleshooting problems, and working with manufacturing to get a product into production.

What You'll Do

You’ll have significant involvement in the complete product-development process, including:

  • Design and develop printed circuit boards (PCBs) from concept through production
  • Design high-current and high-power DC circuits and systems
  • Select and integrate microcontrollers, processors, sensors, communications devices, and other electronic components
  • Develop complete electrical schematics and PCB layouts
  • Create bills of materials and production documentation
  • Select and evaluate components based on performance, reliability, cost, and availability
  • Build, test, and evaluate prototypes in our engineering lab
  • Troubleshoot and debug circuits, PCBs, and complete electronic systems
  • Work with embedded software using C and C++
  • Collaborate with firmware and mechanical engineers on integrated product designs
  • Work with our manufacturing partners to transition new products from engineering into production
  • Support existing products with design changes, component substitutions, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Participate in technical discussions with our sales team as well as customers to understand requirements and develop practical solutions
What We're Looking For
  • We're looking for someone who has already designed real-world products and understands what it takes to get a design beyond the prototype stage and into production.
Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field
  • 5+ years of professional electrical engineering/design experience
  • Strong hands‑on experience with PCB design and development
  • Experience with high‑current and/or high‑power DC circuit design
  • Experience with microcontrollers and embedded systems
  • Working knowledge of C and/or C++
  • Experience taking electrical designs from concept through prototype, testing, and production
  • Ability to develop complete schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation
  • Experience with electrical/PCB CAD software
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to independently own projects while working collaboratively with a small engineering team
Highly preferred:
  • C# experience
The Engineering Environment

We're a small, hands‑on engineering team, and that's an important part of this opportunity.

Our engineers aren't confined to one narrow part of the development process. You'll have the opportunity to design, build, test, troubleshoot, make changes, and see your work become a finished product.

You'll work alongside electrical, firmware, and mechanical engineering resources. You'll have the freedom to suggest different approaches, solve problems, and have a meaningful influence on the products you're developing.

We also have a well‑equipped engineering lab and continue to invest in the tools and technology our engineers need.

If you're happiest when you're not always sure whether you'll spend the afternoon at your computer or at a lab bench figuring out why something isn't behaving the way it should, you'll probably fit in well here.

Hybrid Work

This position can be structured as a hybrid role, with the flexibility to work remotely part of the week.

Because we develop physical products, regular time in our Lafayette office and engineering lab is an important part of the job. You'll need to be on‑site for collaboration, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and interaction with our engineering team.

  • This is not a fully remote position.
  • We are unable to provide employment‑based immigration sponsorship for this position.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
