Job summary

Jungheinrich is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Houston for a permanent, hybrid role within the Product Development and Construction team. You will collaborate with mechanical, hydraulic, and test engineers to deliver mobile machinery projects and ensure smooth transitions from design to deployment.

Travel is occasional; you will troubleshoot and resolve issues on new and existing products, supporting suppliers and internal manufacturing to bring products into production.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
0-3 years cradle-to-production design and testing of electrical systems.
Experience in mobile machine design.
Hands-on experience with electrical testing equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, programmable load).
Knowledge of CAN/CANopen protocols and tools such as CANalyzer or CANoe.
Strong command of Microsoft Office tools.
Fluency in English; German language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

Design parts and simple assemblies within defined boundary conditions.
Create electrical schematics and harnesses.
Specify hardware and software to control trucks with safety features and accessories.
Create drawings and BOMs per company standards.
Support prototype and field test equipment during construction and commissioning.

The Electrical Design Engineer will be based in Houston and play a key role within the Product Development and Construction team. This international, permanent position is available immediately and offers the opportunity to work on innovative mobile machinery projects. The engineer will collaborate closely with mechanical, hydraulic, and test engineers to meet project goals, while also engaging with external suppliers and internal manufacturing teams to bring products into production. The role involves troubleshooting and resolving issues for both new and existing products, ensuring smooth transitions from design to deployment. Occasional travel is required for this position.

Key Responsibilities

This role includes the design of parts and simple assemblies within defined boundary conditions, as well as the creation of electrical schematics and harnesses. The engineer will be responsible for specifying hardware and software to control trucks, incorporating all safety features and accessories. Additional duties include creating drawings and bills of materials (BOMs) in accordance with company standards, supporting prototype and field test equipment during construction and commissioning, and coordinating development tasks with suppliers. The engineer is expected to contribute to continuous improvement efforts and support cross-functional collaboration throughout the product lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
Hands-on experience with cradle-to-production design and testing of electrical systems (0-3 years preferred)
Experience in mobile machine design
Hands-on experience with electronic testing equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, programmable load, etc.).
Knowledge of CAN/CANopen protocols and tools such as CANalyzer or CANoe

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency with SAP, E3 Series 2014, and DOORS
Familiarity in 3D CAD, ideally CATIA V5
