Job summary

FST Technical Services, Inc. in Rio Rancho, NM is seeking a De‑Energized Electrical Work (DEEW) Coordinator to manage the de‑energized electrical work coordination for a critical project.

The role ensures compliance with DEEW processes and coordinates permits, schedules and safety with PMs, CCs, trades, and factory stakeholders. The position requires a 2-year technical degree with 7+ years of industrial electrical journeyman experience, plus strong problem solving, communication, and MS Office

Qualifications

  • 2-year technical degree (construction, mechanical) with 7+ years journeyman industrial electrical experience.
  • Experience coordinating de-energized electrical work and permits.

Responsibilities

  • Act as technical consultant to client PM/CC, GC and trade contractors on DEEW requirements.
  • Attend daily DEEW planning and coordination meetings and review DEEWs for accuracy and safety.
  • Stay apprised of trade DEEW concerns and issues.
  • Audit, coach and correct workers on DEEW permits.
  • Participate in investigations of DEEW-related safety and ITP incidences.
  • Stop risk-matrix activities that are conducted w/o completed DEEWs or which deviate from approved DEEW permit.
  • Be first point of contact for trade personnel on DEEW issue resolution.
  • Participate in SOPs and perform DEEW and Pre-Task Plan audits for compliance to client requirements.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of direct and indirect impact potential to support systems and fabrication equipment.

Position Title

De‑Energized Electrical Work (DEEW) Coordinator

Position Description
  • Supports the DEEW coordination submission process for the project team. Ensures that PMs, CCs, and Trades are complying to DEEW processes and will work to resolve all issues.
  • Manages the de‑energized electrical work permitting process and coordinates the electrical downtime of critical factory equipment with construction and factory stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient electrical work.
Position Deliverables
  • Technical consultant to client PM/CC, GC and Trade Contractors on matters pertaining to DEEW requirements.
  • Attend daily DEEW Planning and Coordination meeting; Review DEEWs for accuracy, compliance, safety and business impact using technical knowledge.
  • Stay apprised of trade DEEW concerns and issues.
  • Auditing, coaching and correcting employees/contractors working with the DEEW permits.
  • Participate in investigations for DEEW‑related safety and ITP incidences. Stop all risk matrix activities that are conducted w/o completed DEEWs or which deviate from approved DEEW permit.
  • First point of contact for trade personnel for issue resolution relative to DEEWs.
  • Participate in SOP and perform DEEW and Pre‑Task Plan audits for compliance to client requirements.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of direct and indirect impact potential to support systems and fabrication equipment. Knowledge and experience with multiple construction industry trades and practices is a must.
Minimum Requirements & Expectations
  • Education/Experience
    • 2‑year technical degree (construction, mechanical) and minimum 7 years related journeyman level industrial electrical experience. Or additional years of experience in lieu of formal education.
  • Skills
    • Problem solving and negotiation skills.
    • Clear verbal and written communications.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word and Excel.
    • Working knowledge of/experience with multiple construction crafts/trades practices.
    • Semiconductor manufacturing facilities construction/renovation experience.
    • In‑depth knowledge of specific discipline construction specifications and installation procedures.
    • Knowledge of OSHA SAFETY Rules and Regulations (NFPA 70).
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
