Job summary

3010 HYDRIL USA DISTRIBUTION is seeking a training developer with an electrical background to design and deliver training materials for HMH equipment. This role involves assessing training needs, developing course content, and delivering training to various stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, strong communication skills, and familiarity with industry standards. Occasional travel may be required, and candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

About the Role

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and deliver high‑quality technical training and competence assessments that support safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
  • Build and maintain subject‑matter expertise in new and existing HMH products by collaborating with engineers, technicians, and field service personnel, and reviewing engineering documentation, schematics, and technical procedures.
  • Identify knowledge‑ and skill‑based performance criteria to support effective training programs and workplace competence assessments.
  • Select appropriate training delivery methods based on defined competence requirements.
  • Design and develop classroom and web‑based training materials related to the operation and maintenance of HMH equipment and software for customers, employees, and third parties.
  • Apply industry best practices, methodologies, and standards to the design and development of all training materials.
  • Design and develop performance and competence assessments to verify knowledge and skill acquisition.
  • Evaluate existing training materials and identify opportunities for improvement and standardization.
  • Maintain in‑depth knowledge of relevant regulatory and industry requirements to ensure training compliance and quality.
  • Deliver instructor‑led technical training to customers and employees.
  • Facilitate practical, hands‑on exercises in a laboratory environment to reinforce learning and operational competence.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with subject‑matter experts to ensure training and competence deliverables are clear, concise, technically accurate, and aligned with operational needs.
  • Maintain continuous knowledge of existing and new HMH products and services through learning and engagement with the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to accurately interpret electrical/electronic and mechanical/hydraulic schematics and technical documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across organizational levels and functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire and apply new technical knowledge quickly.
  • Strong customer‑focused mindset with a responsive and service‑oriented approach.
  • Familiar with Blowout prevention equipment, electro‑hydraulic control systems, riser systems and subsea wellhead connectors.
  • Experience in oilfield services or a similar technical/industrial environment.
  • Familiar with TCP/IP, Siemens PLC programming, Linux/QNX, SQL, and networking MAC/IP addressing.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear, accessible terms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in training development or demonstrated capability to develop training using industry best practices.
  • Experience designing multi‑discipline technical training (mechanical/hydraulic, electrical, and software).
  • Awareness of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements and practices for land and offshore drilling operations.
  • Proficiency in Office, Access, Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Certifications in training development and/or competence management best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Additional Information
  • Occasional local or international travel may be required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis now or in the future, without employer sponsorship.
