Job description

The Electrical Controls Technician is a dual-function position that involves assisting customers and field service technicians with machine troubleshooting, modem/VPN troubleshooting, and information support. This position also supports in-factory engineering and quality. The EC Technician will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical control systems used in industrial automation, manufacturing, or related fields. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, PLC programming, HMI design, and industrial automation.

Essential Functions:

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Design and develop electrical control systems for industrial machinery, equipment, and automated processes

· Select and specify electrical components, such as PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, and other control devices

· Design electrical control systems, including PLC hardware selection, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.

· Develop control strategies and algorithms to optimize industrial processes and equipment performance.

· Specify and procure electrical components, sensors, actuators, and instrumentation required for control system implementation.

· Program PLCs, HMIs, and other control devices using industry-standard programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, function block diagram, structured text).

· Configure communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus) for seamless integration between control systems and peripheral devices.

· Develop and implement motion control algorithms for servo drives and motor controllers.

· Conduct testing and validation of control systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and compliance with specifications.

· Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues, diagnose faults, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.

· Collaborate with maintenance teams to perform preventive maintenance and optimize control system performance.

· Prepare technical documentation, including control system specifications, wiring diagrams, user manuals, and operation procedures.

· Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements (e.g., NFPA, NEC, IEC).

· Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.

· Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians involved in control system implementation.

· Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure on-time and within-budget completion.
