Job summary

Corevia Search seeks an Electrical Controls Project Manager for a major hyperscale data center near Chicago, IL. You will own controls delivery from construction through startup, commissioning and turnover, coordinating BMS/BAS, EPMS, and controls integration with electrical, mechanical, commissioning and owner teams.

This role requires proven data center controls leadership and experience managing subcontractors, RFIs, submittals and change orders to ensure a successful owner handover.

Qualifications

• Hyperscale data center experience essential.
• End-to-end data center controls package delivery from construction through commissioning and turnover.
• Experience as Electrical Controls Project Manager or similar role (BMS/BAS, EPMS).
• Strong knowledge of BMS/BAS, EPMS and controls integration within critical environments.
• Experience managing subcontractors, budgets, schedules, RFIs, submittals and change orders.
• GC experience strongly preferred.
• Prior commissioning/startup/IST/final turnover on data center projects is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical controls delivery across a large-scale hyperscale data center project.
• Manage controls scope from installation through startup, commissioning, testing and final turnover.
• Coordinate BMS/BAS, EPMS and critical electrical controls integration across the project.
• Work closely with electrical, mechanical, controls, commissioning and owner teams to drive project readiness.
• Manage controls contractors, integrators, vendors and subcontractors.
• Oversee RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, schedule and project documentation.
• Support commissioning activities including Functional Performance Testing, controls validation, issue resolution and IST.
• Identify and resolve scope gaps between controls, electrical, mechanical and commissioning teams.
• Drive punch-list completion, closeout documentation and successful owner turnover.
• Maintain strong communication with project leadership, trade partners and client stakeholders.

Electrical Controls Project Manager – Hyperscale Data Center | Near Chicago, Illinois

I'm partnered with a leading General Contractor delivering a major 300MW hyperscale data center campus near Chicago, Illinois, and they are looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Controls Project Manager to take ownership of controls delivery across the project.

This is a direct hire project leadership position responsible for managing electrical controls scope from construction through startup, commissioning, Integrated Systems Testing and final turnover, working closely with electrical, mechanical, controls, commissioning and owner teams.

• Phase 2 of a 300MW hyperscale data center campus
• Total Package up to $290,000
• Rotational schedule of approximately nine days onsite, Friday home/remote, then returning Monday
• Long-term project pipeline beyond the current phase

Ideal Background

• Strong hyperscale or mission-critical data center experience is essential.
• Proven experience delivering a data center controls package end to end, from construction through commissioning and turnover.
• Previous experience as an Electrical Controls Project Manager, Controls Project Manager, BMS Project Manager, BAS Project Manager or similar.
• Strong knowledge of BMS/BAS, EPMS and controls integration within critical environments.
• Good understanding of critical electrical infrastructure including switchgear, generators, UPS, ATS/STS, PDUs and associated controls.
• Experience managing subcontractors, controls integrators, vendors, budgets, schedules, RFIs, submittals and change orders.
• General Contractor experience is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience working through commissioning, startup, IST and final turnover on a data center project is highly preferred.
