James Hardie Building Products Inc. is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to direct and support the electrical crew’s daily plan. You will collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, and IT to enhance equipment availability and reliability.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, and 2+ years in a continuous manufacturing setting. Expect hands-on wiring, PLCs, HMI, and device networks, with travel for projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• 2+ years of experience in a continuous operating (24/7) manufacturing environment.
• CMMS skills with MP2 or other CMMS programs.
• Significant experience with PLCs, Wonderware, RSView, AB Drives, and DeviceNet.

Responsibilities

• Safety comes first for yourself and for all activities.
• Support the maintenance department in troubleshooting, installing, and maintaining plant equipment.
• Make or manage control/electrical system changes as requested by Safety, production, R&D, Environmental, or other departments; may include programming and/or hardware changes.
• Support capital and plant projects for new or existing equipment including getting bids, hiring and managing contractor personnel and engineering firms, quoting, selecting, and purchasing electrical and process equipment, programming for new systems, equipment commissioning and start up; travel may be involved.
• Maintain and update electrical drawings and standards.
• Historian and SQL server work for data collection, monitoring, and reporting.
• Support off-site engineers and IT with local technical issues or upgrades.
• Develop plans for plant outages and other projects.
• Oversee electrical requirements for insurance policy compliance, testing and contingency plans.
