Job summary

LVI Associates is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Worcester, MA facility to design and upgrade PLC-driven controls for industrial machinery. You will participate in on-site startups, field service, and collaboration with internal teams to deliver robust electrical solutions.

The role requires 3–10 years of PLC/HMI experience, familiarity with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley tools, AutoCAD Electrical, and a strong safety-oriented design approach. On-site work in Worcester, MA is expected.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred, though equivalent industry experience is required.
  • 3-10 years of experience programming various PLC platforms and implementing HMIs in an OEM environment.
  • Proven experience with current PLC-controlled automated equipment, primarily Allen-Bradley PLCs and Rockwell programming, together with a working knowledge of the current Rockwell suite of tools (MicroLogix, CompactLogix, ControlLogix, Kinetix Motion, FactoryTalk).
  • The ability to size electrical components and select the correct devices for each application.
  • A solid understanding of safety circuit design and usage, along with pneumatic and hydraulic circuits and components.
  • Strong communication, organisational and computer skills, including hands-on experience with MS Office, Rockwell Automation, AutoCAD Electrical, and Fanuc CNC and Robotics.
  • Familiarity with additional PLC platforms (Siemens, Omron, Yaskawa) is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Design and assess mechanical and electrical devices and systems, including power circuits, I/O ladder diagrams, enclosure and panel layouts, operator station layouts, bills of materials, and termination and field wiring diagrams, in line with NEC, NFPA and UL standards using AutoCAD.
  • Evaluate and develop design approaches required to meet production needs for new, modified, upgraded or improved products and processes.
  • Carry machine design and build through from concept to completion.
  • Provide technical guidance on design matters as required.
  • Lead and take part in hands‑on electrical start‑ups, covering setup, programming and debugging.
  • Deliver field service and installation work at customer locations.

This expanding organisation is looking for a self-starting, resourceful and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer with 3-10 years of experience programming a range of PLC platforms and implementing HMIs within an OEM setting. The successful engineer will design mechanical and electrical devices, collaborate with a variety of internal teams and service equipment at customer sites. They will take ownership of engineered solutions from initial concept through to production, supporting both new product development and upgrades to existing electrical control systems for industrial machinery and processes.
