Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with FANUC CNC controls and ladder logic.
  • Strong background in CNC axis and motion control for industrial machinery.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex automation and motion-related issues.
  • Experience supporting or leading controls efforts on custom machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics (design experience not required).
  • Comfortable taking ownership and serving as a technical leader.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, modification, and troubleshooting of FANUC ladder logic programs.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for CNC axis and motion control systems, including servo configuration and tuning.
  • Define and program machine sequencing, safety logic, interlocks, and homing routines.
  • Own controls support through machine build, testing, and commissioning.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex motion, performance, and reliability issues.
  • Establish and improve control standards, documentation, and best practices.
  • Mentor engineers, technicians, or integrators on FANUC and CNC controls.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and service teams to drive successful machine performance.

Job description

We are hiring a Senior Controls Engineer due to an upcoming retirement, creating a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact, ownership-driven role. This position is intended to transition into the technical subject matter expert (SME) for FANUC CNC controls and machine motion systems across the organization.

During the onboarding and transition period, you’ll work alongside experienced team members, after which you’ll take the lead on controls strategy, machine functionality, and long-term improvements. This role is ideal for someone who wants to make the role their own, influence standards and best practices, and serve as the go-to technical authority for CNC and motion control within a custom-equipment environment.

What You’ll Do
