Job summary

Shasta Beverages, Inc. in Columbus, OH seeks an experienced controls engineer to install, wire, and commission control systems and lead small in-house plant projects as an Associate Project Manager.

You will diagnose machine faults, calibrate instrumentation, work with PLC/SCADA systems (Rockwell RSLogix5000 and SLC500), and maintain the plant library of PLC/HMI/VFD parameters while supporting production across shifts.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; some college strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the maintenance of complex controls systems with multiple interactions.
  • Must have knowledge of how PLC, SCADA and/or other industrial control systems work to include some minor programming.
  • Emphasis on Rockwell Automation RS Logix5000 and SLC500 platforms
  • Three years’ experience in the maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and process control equipment, in an industrial manufacturing setting including Food, Beverage, or other manufacturing industries.
  • Technical training in electronics, instrumentation, and process controls
  • Work with Thermocouples, Transducers, PLC, Motors, VFD Drives
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Installation, Wiring and Commissioning of control systems.
  • Exercise technical, mechanical and control system aptitude/skills in order to accurately identify root causes for machine failures or breakdowns and the repair accordingly.
  • Instrumentation and controls debugging and troubleshooting.
  • May represent Facility as Associate Project Manager on segments of Corporate Engineering projects as well as lead small in-house plant projects.
  • Receives general supervision and exercises some discretion as to work details.
  • Ability to work all shifts dependent on the need to maintain production.
  • Responsible for completing projects tasks within time and budget constraints.
  • Work is reviewed for overall accuracy, completeness and soundness of technical judgment.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common information, reports, and other documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or company representatives. Ability to effectively present information to management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Field positions will be exposed to various unfamiliar conditions where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn and which may include but are not limited to manufacturing and warehouse plants, and other venues as directed by the supervisor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but increases significantly in warehouse and manufacturing plants.
