Job summary

STR Group USA Inc. is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to design and deliver turnkey conveyor control systems for major projects in the US.

You will work hands-on with a team of engineers, subcontractors, and project managers to bring complex automation systems to life. You will translate customer requirements into efficient control designs, create hardware and software drawings, oversee panel builds, and support on-site startup domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical/Controls Engineering or similar field.
• GM project experience; GM certification is desirable.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and PLC control software.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience in industrial plant environments and leading teams.
• Valid driver's license and passport, or ability to obtain them.

Responsibilities

• Turn customer requirements into efficient control system designs.
• Create hardware and software drawings and PLC configurations.
• Oversee panel builds, wiring, and subcontractor work.
• Collaborate with mechanical teams for seamless integration.
• Support installs, debugging, and startup on-site (domestic & international).

We are looking for an Electrical Controls Engineer to take charge of designing and delivering turnkey conveyor control systems for major projects. You’ll work 'hands‑on' with a talented team of engineers, subcontractors, and project managers to bring complex automation systems to life.

What You’ll Do

• Turn customer requirements into smart, efficient control system designs
• Create hardware/software drawings, PLC code, and operational configs
• Oversee panel builds, wiring, and subcontractor work
• Collaborate with mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration
• Support installs, debug, and start-up on-site (domestic & international)
• Drive projects from concept through completion
• Regular travel to customer sites

Skills & Experience Required

• BS in Electrical/Controls Engineering (or similar)
• Experience working on GM projects including conveyor systems (GM certification highly desirable)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD & PLC control software
• Strong organizational, problem-solving & communication skills
• Comfortable in industrial plant environments & leading others
• Valid driver’s license & passport (or ability to get one)
