Job description

Overview

The Electrical and Controls Engineer is responsible for providing expert judgment and analysis for the design, development, manufacturing, testing and operation of engineered products and systems, resolving highly complex technical requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Designs products and systems, which can be complex in nature necessitating the expert application of mathematical and engineering knowledge.
  • Ability to translate a system process into an electrical and controls system able to meet the process and functional requirements according to either a standard design or specification-driven project.
  • Responsible for the preparation, review and approval of drawings, models, sketches, equipment lists, Bills of Material, manufacturing work instructions, standard operating practices, and verbal instructions.
  • Generates electrical engineering documentation including single line diagrams, panel layout, electrical schematic, load lists, I/O and alarm lists, amongst other critical documentation required in the fabrication of control systems and power panels.
  • Responsible for planning and self-monitoring daily engineering and design work assignments
  • Controls and monitors schedules to meet the completion of projects’ deliverables based on customer and internal technical specifications.
  • Develops and uses engineering standards (electrical, mechanical, etc.), procedures and forms for engineering design and production fabrications. Writes and administers work instructions.
  • Provides engineering advice and counsel to Engineers, Project Managers, Application Engineers, and Field Services personnel as required.
  • Assists Production with Factory Acceptance Tests as well as Customer’s witness testing.
  • Represents the company for outside customer discussions and technical reviews.
  • Originates and applies new Engineering methods and procedures to lower cost and improve quality.
  • Provides technical support for proposals and cost estimates.
  • May provide technical support for new product development.
  • Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge in Electrical/Safety standards and Electrical codes.
  • Experience with different PLC make and brands such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, Modicon, etc.
  • Minimum of 5+ years in control system and hardware design experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • High competency with Windows-based applications and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and others Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and diverse work environment subject to changing priorities.
  • Effective communication skills and collegial attitude.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills a must.
  • Hands on troubleshooting.
  • Able to travel 5-10% of time to jobsites or other De Nora facilities as required.
Preferred Experience
  • Water Treatment industry experience
  • Knowledge of UV or Ozone Systems
  • SAP experience
  • Field experience
  • AutoCad experience
Education and/or Experience

BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Instrumentation Design and 8-10 years of experience in the field or in a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

EIT or PE a plus
