Job summary

A leading manufacturing company in Bellwood, Virginia, is looking for a Lead Electrical/Controls Engineer to optimize highly automated manufacturing equipment and processes. The role involves designing, developing, and implementing visual systems, providing technical support to operations and maintenance, and leading process improvement projects. Ideal candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing, along with high competency in Allen-Bradley PLC and motor drives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing operation.
  • Experience with technical projects in manufacturing; robotics experience is a plus.
  • High competency with Allen‑Bradley PLC (Control Logix 5000), HMI, and Allen‑Bradley motor drives.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement visual systems to reduce errors and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams as needed.
  • Lead or serve on continuous improvement and Six Sigma project teams.

  • Support plant safety initiatives and industrial electrical systems.

Job description

The Lead Electrical/Controls Engineer optimizes highly automated manufacturing equipment and processes at a Bellwood, Virginia aluminum extrusion and tube mill plant. The role designs, develops and implements visual systems, provides technical support to Operations and Maintenance, and leads reliability and improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and implement visual systems to reduce errors and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams as needed.
  • Combine theoretical knowledge and practical experience to innovate new products and processes.
  • Lead or serve on continuous improvement and Six Sigma project teams.
  • Support plant safety initiatives and industrial electrical systems.
  • Mentor employees to enhance equipment and process knowledge.
  • Document all technical work thoroughly.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing operation.
  • High competency with Allen‑Bradley PLC (Control Logix 5000), HMI, and Allen‑Bradley motor drives.
Desired Skills
  • Excellent equipment troubleshooting abilities.
