This position is located at our corporate headquarters in Exeter, PA.

Job Description

Electrical assemblers complete the manufacture of locomotive components such as controls stands, simulators, and rheostats by performing tasks including:

  • Reading and interpreting schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, or reports to determine materials requirements or assembly instructions.
  • Assembling electrical or electronic systems or support structures and installing components, units, subassemblies, wiring, or assembly casings using rivets, bolts, soldering, or micro-welding equipment.
  • Adjusting, repairing, or replacing electrical or electronic components to correct defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Positioning, aligning, or adjusting workpieces or electrical parts to facilitate wiring or assembly.
  • Explaining assembly procedures or techniques to other workers.
  • Cleaning parts using cleaning solutions, air hoses, and cloths.
  • Drilling or tapping holes in equipment to mount control units or provide openings for wiring or instruments.
  • Fabricating or forming parts, coils, or structures according to specifications with drills, calipers, cutters, or saws.
  • Consulting with supervisors or engineers to plan or review work activities or resolve production issues.
  • Inspecting or testing wiring installations, assemblies, or circuits for resistance or operation, and recording results.
  • Marking and tagging components for inventory tracking.
  • Measuring and adjusting voltages to specified values to verify operational accuracy.
  • Completing, reviewing, or maintaining production, time, or waste reports.
  • Distributing materials, supplies, or subassemblies to work areas.
  • Packing finished assemblies for shipment and transporting them using hoists or hand trucks.

Qualifications

  • A positive attitude.
  • Mechanical knowledge and aptitude for working with electrical components.
  • Experience with power tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Good problem-solving skills and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Prior experience in electrical assembly is preferred but not required.

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Overtime may be required during heavy workloads.
