Job summary

KALCON in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a Tool Install Electrical CAD Designer (A&E Representative) to support electrical design coordination for semiconductor tool installations, developing detailed electrical packages and ensuring code compliance. You will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, constructible electrical systems for complex facilities.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED; a relevant Associate degree is

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; an Associate degree in engineering or architectural fields is preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD is required; experience with tools such as Revit, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, and/or EasyPower is a plus
• Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA)

Responsibilities

• Work on behalf of the Engineer of Record and design team on specified tool installation scopes at a semiconductor project site
• Generate comprehensive technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models aligned with industry standards and client requirements
• Determine conduit, conductor, and wire sizing, accounting for current loads and environmental conditions
• Assess cable tray fills to ensure proper cable management, organization, and scalability
• Perform short circuit calculations to determine fault currents and specify appropriate protective devices
• Perform voltage drop calculations to ensure electrical system performance and compliance with applicable standards
• Ensure all electrical designs adhere to applicable local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations
• Apply established design techniques and use judgment to adapt and refine design concepts while maintaining CAD and design standards
• Collaborate with designers, engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to address design objectives and resolve complex technical challenges
• Coordinate across multidisciplinary teams (Mechanical, Structural, Process/Chemical, Architectural, etc.) to ensure integrated and complete design deliverables
