Job summary

Niowave, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Designer to support engineering and facility design projects in a radiopharmaceutical manufacturing setting.

You will create, revise, and maintain high-quality 2D electrical drawings, including schematics, panel layouts, and power distribution, while ensuring documentation is revision-controlled and accurate. You will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and QA professionals to translate complex concepts into precise drawings and support

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in drafting/electrical tech.
• 3+ years electrical design experience in industrial/technical facilities.
• Experience reading/schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts.
• Experience maintaining revision-controlled engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise, organize, and maintain 2D electrical drawings (schematics, panel layouts, power distribution).
• Develop and maintain documentation for PLC controls, safety circuits, instrumentation, and wiring systems.
• Produce facility layouts and building documentation; convert field redlines to as-built revisions.
• Assist in ensuring quality and safety in a radiopharmaceutical manufacturing setting.

What you can expect to work on…

As a CAD Designer, you’ll play a key role in supporting engineering and facility design projects within a radiopharmaceutical manufacturing setting. You’ll be responsible for creating, revising, organizing, and maintaining high-quality 2D electrical drawings including electrical schematics, panel layouts, power distribution drawings, conduit/raceway layouts, and facility electrical documentation.

• Creates layout, pictorial, schematic, and wiring diagrams for electrical systems, control systems, equipment installations, and facility infrastructure
• Creates and revises detailed 2D electrical drawings including one-line diagrams, power distribution layouts, panel schedules, control wiring diagrams, conduit/raceway layouts, equipment interconnect drawings, and electrical room layouts
• Develops and maintains documentation for PLC controls, safety circuits, instrumentation, and associated control wiring systems
• Creates and maintains facility layouts, equipment layouts, and building/facility documentation
• Converts field redlines and installation markups into controlled as-built revisions

What you need to succeed…

• Associate Degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Electrical Technology, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years experience in electrical design
  • creating and maintaining electrical drawings using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
  • reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and control drawings
  • supporting industrial, manufacturing, laboratory, utility, or technical facility projects
  • maintaining revision-controlled engineering documentation

• 5+ years experience in electrical design
• Experience with:
  • AutoCAD Electrical
  • ladder logic diagrams and industrial control systems
  • PLC-based systems and industrial instrumentation
  • facility electrical distribution systems
  • SolidWorks Electrical, Visio, KiCad, Draw.io, or similar tools
  • supporting facility expansions or capital projects
  • operating within a cGMP or regulated manufacturing environment
  • lean manufacturing principles (Six Sigma, 5S)

Other things to note…

• Full-time position.
• The company’s standard operating hours are Monday thru Friday 6a – 6p with production related activities requiring 24/7/365 shifts.
• This position will have regular working hours during M – F with an expectation of adjusting to working outside of the standard operating hours as assigned.
• Niowave has multiple locations within the Lansing area. Travel between locations is expected in the role.
