Job summary

Spectra Tech, Inc. in Berkeley, CA, seeks an experienced Electrical CAD Design professional to create and maintain electrical models, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Inventor, and KiCad.

The role involves generating BOMs and documentation for manufacturing, collaborating with engineers to ensure designs meet requirements, and maintaining revision-controlled data in Windchill or similar PLM/PDM systems.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of professional experience producing electrical CAD designs using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, KiCad, or equivalent software.
• Experience developing manufacturing-ready electrical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and wire/cable schedules.
• Experience developing and maintaining revision-controlled engineering documentation within PLM/PDM systems.
• Familiarity with applicable industry standards and codes relevant to electrical design activities.

Electrical CAD Design

• Electrical CAD Design
  *
  Create and maintain electrical models, wiring diagrams, schematics, and panel layouts using project-approved CAD software.
  *
  CAD software may include AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Inventor, KiCad, and other software.
  *
  Review and revise designs based on engineering feedback, design reviews, and approved engineering changes.
• Generate bills of materials, wire and cable lists, and supporting documentation for manufacturing and assembly activities.
  Documentation shall be prepared with sufficient detail to support the intended manufacturing, assembly, or installation activity.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, project managers, and other designated project personnel to ensure that designs meet technical requirements and integrate with applicable product assemblies.

  Participate in design coordination and design-review activities as requested by the LBNL Technical Representative.
• Perform assigned work in accordance with applicable industry standards, codes, and internal quality requirements identified by LBNL.

  Maintain organized design files, libraries, and revision-controlled documentation within Windchill or other designated systems.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience producing electrical CAD designs using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, KiCad, or equivalent software.
• Demonstrated experience developing manufacturing-ready electrical documentation, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and wire or cable schedules.
• Experience developing and maintaining revision-controlled engineering documentation within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
• Working knowledge of electrical engineering principles, electrical components, schematic development, and wiring practices.
• Familiarity with applicable industry standards and codes relevant to electrical design activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting DOE national laboratories, research facilities, particle accelerators, or other complex scientific or industrial engineering projects.
• Experience using Autodesk Inventor for three-dimensional electrical or electromechanical design.
• Experience integrating electrical and mechanical CAD models.
• Experience using Windchill for engineering document and configuration management.
• Experience supporting fabrication, assembly, installation, or commissioning of complex engineered systems.
