Job summary

Saronic Technologies is seeking an Electrical Build Engineer to support design, analysis, and development of autonomous surface vessels. You’ll oversee electrical fabrication, integration, testing, and troubleshooting at the shipyard, interfacing with design teams remotely from Austin.

The role requires hands-on expertise in marine electrical systems, CAD-based modeling, and deep knowledge of regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Electrical Systems, Ocean Engineering, or related field.
  • Familiarity with ABS, IEEE 45, ABYC, and US Coast Guard electrical regulations.
  • Strong fundamentals in power distribution, motor control, instrumentation, and marine systems.
  • Experience in shipyards or with marine electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in electrical CAD software and ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in design, analysis, and installation of electrical systems for ASVs, including power distribution and sensor integration.
  • Collaborate on CAD modeling, analysis, and system optimization with engineering teams.
  • Coordinate between engineering, drafting, and production to resolve construction challenges.
  • Lead root-cause analyses and drive resolution via ECOs and rework plans.
  • Support integration of autonomous navigation and control systems into vessel designs.
  • Perform electrical testing, commissioning, and verification of installed systems.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, test procedures, and as-built records.

Job Overview

We are seeking a talented and motivated Electrical Build Engineer to support the design, analysis, and development of autonomous surface vessels. This role will provide hands‑on experience in marine electrical systems and advanced autonomous technologies, driving impact in defense innovation. As an Electrical Build Engineer, you’ll interface remotely with our design engineering teams in Austin while owning the hands‑on oversight of electrical fabrication, integration, testing, and troubleshooting at the shipyard.

Responsibilities

Assist in the design, analysis, and installation of electrical systems for ASVs, including power distribution, control systems, wiring harnesses, cable routing, electrical panels, and sensor integration

Collaborate with engineering teams to perform CAD modeling, analysis, and system optimization

Operate as liaison between engineering, drafting, and production teams to resolve technical challenges during construction

Identify and resolve non‑conformances, lead root cause analysis, and drive resolution via IRBs (Issue Review Boards) and rework plans

Lead and coordinate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)—ensure traceability, communication, implementation, and verification

Support the integration of autonomous navigation and control systems into vessel designs

Participate in design reviews and provide technical input on system architecture and performance

Support documentation including technical drawings, specifications, test procedures, and as‑built records for internal use, regulatory bodies, and client presentations

Manage CAD models to document as‑built changes made during ship construction

Perform electrical testing, commissioning, and verification of installed systems including continuity checks, megger testing, and functional tests

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Electrical Systems, Ocean Engineering, or a related field

Familiarity with maritime industry electrical standards including ABS, IEEE 45, ABYC, and US Coast Guard electrical regulations

Strong fundamentals in electrical engineering principles including power distribution, motor control, instrumentation, and marine electrical systems

Experience working in a shipyard environment or with marine/naval electrical systems

Strong knowledge of electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical)

Deep familiarity with interpreting electrical schematics, single‑line diagrams, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams

Experience with electrical testing equipment including multimeters, megohmmeters, oscilloscopes, and power quality analyzers

Understanding of wire sizing, circuit protection, grounding, bonding, and marine electrical safety practices

Strong communication skills across engineers, electricians, technicians, quality teams, and leadership

Comfortable working in an industrial shipyard environment with hands‑on electrical troubleshooting
