Electrical BIM/VDC Engineer: 3D Coordination & Field Support

Job summary

EIG is seeking a BIM/VDC professional to lead modeling and coordination for electrical work on major capital projects. You will set up project sites for BIM data, develop fabrication models, and coordinate with trade partners to ensure clash-free designs.

You will mentor teams in Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD, and support field integration through BIM 360 tools. This role demands strong communication, collaboration, and quick learning of new software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or similar with emphasis on technology
• Minimum 5+ years of electrical field experience and hands-on construction tech in the AEC industry driving VDC adoption on large capital projects
• Journeyman’s license is a plus
• Ability to work in a flat-organization environment that requires full transparency, team collaboration, and influence-led initiatives
• Knowledge of fundamental project management processes (submittals, RFIs, budgets, change orders)
• Basic to intermediate CM processes and PM tools; CMiC knowledge a plus
• Strong technical skills in Autodesk packages (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks) and other platforms
• Understanding of BIM concepts (LOD, parametric models, clash detection, coordinate systems)
• Experience with Autodesk BIM 360 Build products (Glue, Field, Docs, Plan)
• Ability to quickly learn new software tools and teach others

Responsibilities

• Configure and setup project sites to host BIM data following EIG’s best practices
• Create and coordinate detailed fabrication models for electrical work
• Support project setup for 3D trade coordination, site planning, and 4D sequencing
• Participate in model-based design coordination meetings and coordinate with trade partners
• Support BIM to Field equipment and software setup
• Develop and improve EIG templates and modeling best practices
• Provide VDC-based laser scanning and drone support
• Assist on-site construction teams with VDC applications and deliverables
• Aide and support training in Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam
• Train, educate, and mentor project personnel in BIM software and processes
