Job summary

HDR is seeking a Digital Design Lead in our Building Engineering Services Group in Phoenix, AZ to help design electrical facilities and related systems. You will work with Electrical Engineers to create detailed designs aligned with NEC and industry standards.

You should have at least five years of relevant experience, a technical degree, and strong skills in 3D design software and coordination tools. The role involves supervision of BIM Technicians and interactions across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or a combination of education and related industry experience.
• A minimum of 5 years related industry experience.
• Advanced skillset of 3D design software and document management infrastructure.
• Advanced skillset of 3D Coordination tool
• Competency of Microsoft Office products and communication tools
• Advanced understanding of engineering or architectural concepts
• Knowledge of industry standards and practices, along with discipline codes and specifications
• Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and organizational traits are essential

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Electrical Engineers to design lighting, power, communications, and security systems per NEC.
• Perform basic system calculations, drawing production, and master specs editing.
• Lead BIM coordination and supervise junior technicians.
• Apply standard engineering methods under licensed supervision.
• Contribute to design documentation and project deliverables.

In the role of Digital Design Lead, we'll count on you to:

• Work with Electrical Engineers and EITs to create detailed electrical designs for facilities, including lighting systems, power systems, communications, security and fire detection in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
• Perform basic system calculations, drawing production, and some master specification editing
• Perform assignments utilizing standard engineering techniques and procedures under the supervision of a licensed professional
• Direct the efforts of less-experienced BIM Technicians as needed
• Perform other duties as needed
