Job summary

EPI Power, an electrical contractor with data center specialization, seeks an Electrical Assistant Project Manager in Des Moines, IA. This fast-paced role supports lean project coordination and ensures scope adherence in complex electrical builds.

Qualifications

  • Experience on data center, mission-critical, industrial, or large complex electrical projects preferred.
  • Lean principles knowledge applied in project work.

Responsibilities

  • Understand contract terms and ensure work stays within scope.
  • Manage drawings, RFIs, submittals, and project docs.
  • Prepare inspections, audits, and non-conformance logs.
  • Track material and equipment delivery status.
  • Create and manage scopes of work for subcontracts/purchase orders.
  • Assist in preconstruction, planning, and buyout processes.
  • Assist with monthly status reports and owner billings.

Job Description:

EPI Power is hiring an Electrical Assistant Project Manager to join our team!

This role requires the ability to work 6 days per week, Monday – Saturday.

What You’ll Do:
  • Understand contract terms and obligations to ensure work in progress is within scope
  • Manage construction documents, drawings, requests for information (RFI) and submittals
  • Prepare inspections, compliance audits and the non-conformance log
  • Manage material and equipment delivery status
  • Manage project logs (i.e. buyouts, subcontractor material status reports, submittals, RFIs)
  • Assist in the preconstruction, project planning and buyout process
  • Create and manage scopes of work to be included in subcontracts and/or purchase order agreements
  • Approve subcontractor and vendor pay applications, within delegated authority
  • Assist in completion of monthly project status reports (MPSR), owner billings and financial risk assessments
  • Ensure subcontract agreements and amendments are executed
  • Track and negotiate subcontractor requests for change; solicit pricing and execute change orders, within delegated authority
  • Utilize virtual design tools to assist with project coordination
  • Operate project software, implement Lean Last Planner and create/manage project schedule
  • Facilitate regular project meetings; record and distribute meeting minutes, as needed
  • Manage closeout information, punch list items, as-built drawings and warranty process
  • Facilitate dispute resolution among subcontractors, vendors, architects and owners, within delegated authority
  • Identify and propose value engineering and scope reduction opportunities
  • Assist with mentoring and providing development opportunities for team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years of experience in construction project management
    • Experience on data center, mission-critical, industrial, or other large complex electrical projects is strongly preferred
    • An industry-related college degree is required; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
    • Knowledge and application of Lean principles
  • Skills:
    • Project management skills
    • Ability to support schedule-driven execution in a fast-track construction environment
    • Strong negotiation and relationship building skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication
    • Ability to make sound judgements and decisions
    • Analytical thinker with a high level of initiative
    • Adaptable to meet the needs of the business and the client
    • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Technology:
    • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, P6 is a plus
    • Proficient in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
    • Ability to learn specific job-related software upon hire
